US Presidential Elections03 Nov '04, 00:00The US Presidential Elections were held yesterday which meant that here in good old Blighty, the results of which States were won by who came in over night. So at bed time yesterday it was neck and neck and my hopes were high for a "President Kerry". Waking up this morning I found many States had gone to the incumbent President George W. Bush - much to my disappointment. In fact, throughout today the election hung on the results of Ohio - the last of the big "swing States" to be announced. By 4pm Senator John Kerry had conceded the presidency meaning Bush has won another 4 years in office.I'm not too pleased about that. To be honest I don't feel Bush has made a good leader for the "most powerful nation on Earth". I think his policies on Iraq have been badly thought out and have left the region in a worse state than it was before the war. The only hope I have now is that without having to worry about a re-election in 4 years, he can sort out the mess in the Middle East and hopefully pay some attention to those countries who have ratified the Kyoto Agreement at the G8 Summit and ratify it himself (all to do with climate change). It will certainly be interesting to see how the next 4 years turn out.
